Palestine’s Fatah movement condemned an Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip on Monday, calling it a “war crime.”
“Israel is committing massacres and war crimes, and it is killing innocent children in Gaza and escalating its sinful aggression against our Palestinian people in Jerusalem,” Osama al-Qawasmi, the movement’s spokesman, said in a press release.
Al-Qawasmi called on the Palestinian people to unite and remain steadfast in “the face of this brutal aggression that targets the land and holy sites.”
The movement held Israel “fully responsible for the repercussions of its aggression.”
Earlier on Monday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said nine people, including three children, were martyred in the Gaza Strip.
Also, on Monday evening, the Israeli army announced on its Twitter account killing three Hamas members, in a raid, in northern Gaza Strip.
The Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Monday that it launched a “missile strike” against “the enemy” in occupied Jerusalem.
Other factions also announced the launch of dozens of rockets at the Israeli areas bordering the strip.
According to the Palestine Red Crescent, at least 305 people were injured on Monday as Israeli forces fired rubber-coated bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades at Palestinians who were on guard to prevent possible raids by extremist Jews.
Tensions have run high in the Sheikh Jarrah area since last week as Israeli settlers swarmed in after an Israeli court ordered the eviction of Palestinian families.
Palestinians protesting in solidarity with the residents of Sheikh Jarrah have been targeted by Israeli forces.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and annexed the entire city in 1980 – a move that has never been recognized by the international community.
