With no Haftar signature, Turkey expresses doubts on Berlin

(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed doubts over the usefulness of the proposed Berlin Conference on Libya after Libyan General Khalifa Haftar left Moscow on Monday without signing a ceasefire mediated by Turkey and Russia.

"If Haftar continues like this, the Berlin Conference will make no sense," Cavusoglu said.

Cavusoglu said the lack of Haftar's signature on the ceasefire shows "who wants war and who wants peace", and said Turkey "has done its part and will continue to do so".

Meanwhile, the Kremlin press service said Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke by phone about preparations for the Berlin Conference.

It said Putin also informed Merkel about the meeting in Moscow between the leaders involved in the Libyan conflict.
