US Federal Reserve Chair tests positive for coronavirus

US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell tested positive for the coronavirus, the central bank announced Wednesday.

Powell is experiencing mild symptoms and is up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, it said.

"Following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance, he is working remotely while isolating at home," it said in a statement.

The Fed's first two-day meeting of 2023 will conclude Feb. 1. After each meeting, the chair holds a news conference.
