Turkish Red Crescent distributes aid in northern Iraq

The Turkish Red Crescent on Wednesday distributed winter clothes and shelter materials at a refugee camp in northern Iraq's Mosul, according to regional head of the aid group.

We are distributing parcel of winter clothes, water barrel, tarp tent and sleeping bag for the upcoming winter in Dibaga-2 Camp, where around 1,000 people are living, Utku Akbas, head of the Turkish Red Crescent in Iraq, told Anadolu Agency.

Akbas said that they continued to distribute aid to the civilians in Mosul, who fled their homes and took shelter in the safe areas and tried to hold on to life in the camps for four years, after Daesh terror group occupied the region in 2014.

The Turkish Red Crescent is working in cooperation with Iraq's Red Crescent in the area.

Akbas also said that another 2,600 families living in a camp set up by Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority in Duhok province -- northern Iraq-- will be given winter clothes next week.
