Yesterday (January 5) evening at Adnan Menderes airport, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has made a statement to the journalists on the bomb and gun attack which took place yesterday at 4.15 p.m. near İzmir Courthouse in Bayraklı district.

Traffic police officer Fethi Sekin and courthouse personnel Musa Can had lost their lives in the attack and both attackers had been killed.
Prime Minister Yıldırım stated that the situation of the nine injured people was not critical.

“Traffic police Sekin prevented a disaster”

PM Yıldırım said that the attack was planned by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and that one could tell that a greater attack was being planned when the arms and ammunition sought were considered.

Yıldırım added that traffic police officer Fethi Sekin has prevented an attack of potentially a greater extend and saved many lives.

“Citizens should not change the natural flow of their lives”

PM Yıldırım added;

“Our citizens should not change the natural flow of their lives, if they did that, they would serve the purpose of terrorist organizations.
“What they want is to slow down, to stop life, make people anxious, create fear and thus corrode the values of this country. We should not allow this”. (AS/DG)
