From Demirtas to his fellow inmate Zeydan, who has similarly not been released despite a verdict of release: There is neither law, nor justice. But there is companionship, solidarity, hope and resistance. One day, there will definitely be freedom as well.
Imprisoned former Co-Chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtas has tweeted a brief message after politician Abdullah Zeydan, with whom he shares the same prison cell, has been arrested again shortly after a verdict of release was given for him.
Demirtas has shared their picture taken in prison together and attached the note, "There is neither a legal order, nor the law. And there is no justice in any way at all. But, there is companionship, solidarity, hope and resistance. And, one day, there will definitely be freedom as well."
Today marks the third year since the two were arrested.
A verdict of release was given for former HDP Hakkari MP Abdullah Zeydan on November 1. However, before this verdict could be put into effect, the prosecutor's office objected to the verdict and another arrest warrant was issued against Abdullah Zeydan within a few hours.
Though three separate verdicts of release have been given for Selahattin Demirtas so far, he has not been released on the stated ground that he is convicted or arrested as part of another lawsuit.
