A soldier has lost his life in a conflict that erupted between the security forces and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the Avaşin Batıntepe base area in Turkey’s eastern province of Hakkari.

In a written statement released by the Governorship of Hakkari, the name of the deceased soldier has been announced as Zekeriya Zencirli, who was a specialized sergeant.

An air-supported operation has been launched in the region.

Another soldier also lost his life yesterday (May 13). In the district of Yüksekova in Hakkari, one soldier lost his life in an attack by the PKK.

The Governorship of Hakkari announced that one soldier lost his life in an harassing fire opened by the PKK in Alandüzü area in Yüksekova. (EKN/SD)
