New Central Bank Head Accused of Plagiarism

Uysal was the Deputy Central Bank Governor before he was appointed as the governor by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Academic Can Okar claimed that he plagiarized his master’s thesis at Marmara University Department of Banking from three different academic studies; namely, “Inflation Targeting in Emerging Market Countries” by Frederic s. Mishkin (2000), “Inflation Targeting in Developing Countries” by Ferya Kadıoğlu, Nilüfer Özdemir and Gökhan Yılmaz (2000), and “How Did They Manage the Floating Crisis?” by Melike AltınKemer (2001).

Prof. Dr. Erişah Arıcan was the thesis advisor of both Uysal and Berat Albayrak, the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Okar noted.
