Marouni: No political decision to agree on parliamentary elections law

NNA – Member of parliament Elie Marouni told “Sawt Al-Shaab” radio on Thursday that all claims to extend the parliament’s period fell after the accomplishment of the municipal elections, noting that the parliamentary joint committees won’t be able to approve a new parliamentary election law as there is no political decision over that yet.

The MP expressed “concern over the possibility of reaching the parliamentary elections’ deadline without succeeding in agreeing on any new law other than that of the sixties’, which means a third extension to the parliament’s period.”

Marouni denied the possibility of electing a new president soon because “some parties insist of connecting this deadline with the regional situation.”
