The late comedian Joan Rivers (l.) with daughter Melissa have treated Joan’s staff like family.
JOAN RIVERS is still being generous to her staff of over 20 years, even though the trailblazing comedian died nearly one year ago.
We’re told Rivers’ daughter, Melissa, is obeying her mom’s last wishes and has made sure that Joan’s former housekeeping staff, along with her longtime hair and makeup team, are still being taken care of, even though they weren’t left a chunk of her $ 150 million fortune.
“Melissa is still paying everyone; she’s still taking care of everyone, because that’s what Joan asked her to do,” a family friend tells Confidenti@l. “She’s being a guardian angel.”
Our source adds that if you asked Joan, the close group of staff in her inner circle weren’t just on the payroll. She considered them family.
“If you worked for Joan, she paid you a good salary, she covered your health care, she paid for your kid to go to college, and it was a job for life. Melissa has continued their health care and has helped everyone for the past year without a complaint,” adds our source.
Melissa also regularly checks in with Joan’s assistant of 20 years, Jocelyn Pickett, former assistant Sabrina Lott Miller and publicist Scott Currie, who all received an inheritance, to see if they need anything.
“Jocelyn was left Joan’s dogs, so Melissa checks in. It’s Melissa being a good daughter because this is what her mom would have wanted,” says our source.
Melissa and her son Cooper, meanwhile, received “all tangible personal property” of her mother’s through the trust, and this summer sold her four-bedroom, 41/2-bathroom Upper East Side penthouse to “Middle East royalty” for a whopping $ 28 million. Melissa still runs Joan’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, and has just returned from a trip to Wyoming with Cooper.
As Confidenti@l first reported, Melissa will take over hosting duties on E!’s “Fashion Police” as the show goes back into production this week in Los Angeles.
