Gemayel: Thursday's session unconstitutional

NNA – Kataeb leader, MP Sami Gemayel, on Tuesday indicated that Thursday’s legislative session was unconstitutional, urging to press for the election of a new president of the republic.

“The current circumstances necessitate coordination among all parties. The key to solving problems is the election of a new president of the republic,” Gemayel told reporters following his meeting with Marada Movement leader, MP Sleiman Frangieh, in Bikfaya.

“We hope, in coordination with Frangieh, to surprise the public opinion with an initiative to unravel the presidential complication,” he said.

“We agree with the Lebanese Forces and the Free Patriotic Movement that this session must not be held. Legislation amid the absence of a president is unconstitutional,” he explained.

“In Lebanon, settlements are made at the account of people and the Constitution. We prefer to be outside those settlements,” he concluded.
