First Lady Emine Erdogan, who is accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his visit to Malaysia, inaugurated Yunus Emre Institute's Turkish Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur.
Recalling renowned Turkish poet and Sufi mystic Yunus Emre's saying, Come, let's meet and be friends, First Lady Erdogan said: This very greeting, which we are working to carry to every corner of the world, is the main pillar of our institutes.
Describing cultural rapprochement as the best way to know one another, First Lady Erdogan said: Relaying the Turkish language and culture is not our sole goal. We also aim to add new points of intersection to the historical experience of our country, which has acted as an intersection of civilizations throughout centuries. In this regard, the fact that Malaysia is home to various cultures and languages will immensely smooth the way in this process. Let me add that the Malaysian people's hospitality makes us feel at home. I believe that this institute will further strengthen the friendship between the peoples of our countries. The activities we are to carry out will greatly help us understand one another in a short span of time.
