First Lady Emine Erdogan participated in the TRT World Citizen Awards Ceremony in Istanbul.
First Lady Erdogan made a speech at the ceremony. Stating that Turkey is the most generous country in the world, First Lady Erdogan noted that our lands have been a home for those who have fled from oppression and wars throughout history.
Underscoring that such institutions as the Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay), the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) deliver hope as well as aid to many countries in the world, First Lady Erdogan noted that Kizilay reached out to 7 million victims of natural and man-made disasters in 53 countries in 2018 alone.
Further stressing that one of the most important needs in fragile regions is healthcare, First Lady Erdogan went on to say that healthcare is a challenging field which requires continuity beyond temporary controls, adding that Turkey's Ministry of Health has built hospitals in Sudan, Somalia and Bangladesh.
