First Lady Emine Erdogan delivered a speech at a publicity event on the First Step School for Midwives and Pregnant Women in Konya.
THE PROJECT AIMS TO REESTABLISH A BOND OF TRUST BETWEEN NATURAL BIRTH AND EXPECTANT MOTHERS
Noting that cesarean delivery is seen as a convenience, preferred to natural delivery, First Lady Erdogan said: Today cesarean delivery is seen as a way of avoiding pain. No one talks about the harms of cesarean delivery. No one talks about the tendency in the West to return to natural delivery. Our most urgent need at the moment is to change the widespread perception of fear about natural delivery.
I believe the First Step School for Midwives and Pregnant Women will be of great service in this regard, First Lady Erdogan said. The project aims to reestablish a bond of trust between natural birth and expectant mothers, the First Lady underscored.
