Twitter owner Elon Musk was booed on Sunday as he made a surprise appearance at a show by comedian Dave Chapelle in San Francisco, California.
Chapelle – whose stances on hot-button issues have also attracted controversy in recent years – invited the business mogul onstage, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world,” according to a video shared on Twitter.
When Musk walked onstage, he met a mixed reaction from the crowd.
"Cheers and boos, I see," Chappelle said.
“It sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience,” the comedian joked.
Musk's ownership of Twitter, now rounding out its first month, has been marked by widespread chaos at the company, as he seeks to make it profitable through mass layoffs and introducing policies that have been met with widespread internal opposition.
