Aoun convenes with Riachy, discusses budget and electoral law

NNA – President Michel Aoun received in Baabda Palace on Monday Minister of Information, Melhem Riachy, and discussed with him developments in the Tele Liban file, as well as the current state of media outlets in Lebanon, particularly printed media.

Riachy requested permission from Aoun to travel to Canada to meet with the Lebanese community in Montreal.

“I handed to the President a copy of the project laws I presented to the council of ministers, in an attempt to support journalism in general, especially printed press,” Riachy told reporters following the meeting.

“We are in the process of finalizing the dossier pertaining to the board of directors of Tele Liban as quickly as possible.”

The Minister voiced certainty that the new board would develop and rise with the state-run television once it assumed its responsibilities on March tenth by the latest.

Riachy confirmed that Aoun was in support of all of his project laws.

He went on to confirm that the budget would be concluded this week as a step followed by concluding the much talked about electoral law for upcoming legislative elections.
