Alejandro Martinez Velez was awarded the Photographer of the Year by the ND Awards for his photography series, Desolation, which include images captured during the Russia-Ukraine War.
The images show the houses destroyed by the bombardment, the people who lost their lives due to the war, and the people who lost their loved ones.
Velez, who lives in Madrid, focuses on social crises, human rights and political issues in his work.
Omar Marques was awarded the Honorable Mention in the category of "editorial environment" by the ND Awards for his photograph "The worst drought in Portugal in the last 100 years."
The photograph, which was taken on Aug. 8, shows how the village of Vilarinho da Furna in Campo do Geres city in Portugal, which was flooded 50 years ago due to a dam project, has resurfaced due to climate change and increasing drought.
Portuguese photojournalist Marques, who lives in the Krakow city in Poland, focuses on Central Europe, Eastern Europe and the Balkans in his work.
