A Turkish-Hungarian friendship concert was held on Wednesday in the capital Ankara, ahead of Hungarian Republic Day.

The public holiday is celebrated annually on Oct. 23 in memory of the 1956 revolution and the proclamation of Hungary as a republic.

Hungarian Ambassador to Türkiye Viktor Matis said 2024, the 100th anniversary of the friendship agreement between the two countries, will be celebrated as the joint year of culture, with a large number of events to be organized.

Attending a reception at Bilkent Unviersity, Türkiye’s Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said Türkiye and Hungary have always had friendly and strong relations, which are getting closer by the day.

The two countries are determined to enhance the ties further, he added.
