Biden to host German Chancellor in early March

President Joe Biden will welcome German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to the White House on March 3, the White House said Thursday.

"The Chancellor’s visit is an opportunity to reaffirm the deep bonds of friendship between the United States and our NATO Ally Germany," spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

"At the one-year mark of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, the leaders will discuss our ongoing efforts to support Ukraine, impose costs on Russia for its aggression, and strengthen transatlantic security," she said.

The two leaders will also review continued cooperation between the two nations on a range of regional and global security issues, including working on shared challenges posed by China and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, according to the statement.
