Anadolu Agency follows Vostok-2022 military drill in Russia

A strategic military exercise, dubbed Vostok 2022 (East 2022), continues in Russia on Sunday.

Anadolu Agency followed the exercise being held on Sakhalin Island.

The military drill focused on defensive tactics against possible attacks by a foreign airborne unit.

Gadji Neftulayev, the infantry battalion commander of the Russian armed forces, told media that nearly 600 soldiers and over 90 military equipment participated in this phase of the exercise.

The drill started on Sept. 1 and will run through Sept. 7 with the participation of over 50,000 servicemen, 5,000 military equipment, including 140 aircraft and 60 vessels.

Troops and military observers from 14 countries, including Russia, China, India and Azerbaijan, are participating in the exercise.
