Women in İnköy Neighborhood in Kütahya have protested the museum, planned to be built in their meadows, where they graze their animals, with clubs, axes, scythes and rakes. The Kütahya-Eskişehir highway has been closed to traffic.
According to a report by Oğuzhan Kılıç from the DHA, as many as 300 women closed the Kütahya-Eskişehir highway to traffic for an hour with around 2,000 bovines with them. An 8-km motorcade was formed due to the highway being closed to traffic.
As women said that they won’t leave the highway if governor and mayor don’t come, both the governor and mayor came to the scene and asked the women to come to the governorship to discuss solution.
Women came to the place called İnköy Meadow in which the construction of archeological museum started demanded that the construction be halted.
Stating that they have been grazing the animals for years in that meadow of the village, the women said they won’t open the highway to traffic before the governor and mayor come.
As a large number of police were deployed to the scene, Kütahya Security Director Hasan Çevik came as well. The women reiterated that they won’t leave the scene before the governor comes.
Later on, Kütahya Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir and Mayor Kamil Saraçoğlu came to the scene. Nayir asked the women to come to the governorship to discuss the matter. Upon that, the women opened the way to traffic. (ÇT/TK)

HDP’s Urfa MP and Spokesperson of the party Osman Baydemir been taken into custody in Diyarbakır province has been released after giving a statement before the Prosecutor’s Office.
On May 20, a warrant had been issued to take Baydemir forcibly to give testimony in the trial in which he faced from 1 to 3 years in prison on charge of “insulting a public official with regards to his public service” five years ago when has was the Mayor of Diyarbakır.
According to Felat Bozarslan’s report from Doğan News Agency, Baydemir is further standing trial in the lawsuit in which he was being charged with insulting police officers in front of Diyarbakır Governorship’s office where he went to together with other MPs to protest the ban on a demonstration planned to be staged on November 3, 2012 to draw attention to the hunger strikes carried out in prisons for Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), one of Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) preceding political parties which had been closed.

A group has attacked the building of Communication Faculty in Ankara University with stones, wounding three students.
Speaking to bianet, a student who witnessed the incident said:
“The school is very crowded due to week of exams. A group of nationalists came in front of the Communication Faculty building. They were chanting slogans against [PKK Leader Abdullah] Öcalan. The information that the attack occurred because of the Ramadan is not true. They had iron clubs in their hands. The leftist students in the faculty responded. They set barricades to the door.

“Special security officials fled without intervening. The police arrived half an hour later. They continued throwing stones for half an hour. The police saw who threw the stones and used pepper gas. They didn’t detain anyone”. (BK/TK)
The curfew declared in 43 villages and hamlets in Lice, Hani, Kocaköy and Dicle districts of Diyarbakır province in southeastern Turkey on May 30, was lifted today (June 2) as of 11 a.m.
According to the statement on the official website of the governorship, the operations planned to take place in the locations where curfew was declared, have also been completed.
The curfew has been lifted in:
Ecemiş, Birlik, Şenlik, Abalı, Erginköy, Daralan, Duruköy, Çeper, Güçlü, Gökçe villages and hamlets in Lice district,
Kaledibi, Topçular, Çukurköy, Kuyular, Abacılar, Akçayurt, Yukarıturalı, Uzunlar, Serenköy, Kalaba, Kırım, Yayvan, Soylu, Çardaklı, Sergen, Okurköy, Gürbüz, Anıl, Süslü and Belen villages and hamlets in Hani district,
Şaklat and Yazıköy villages in Kocaköy district as well as
Meydanköy, Sergenli, Dedeköy, Bademli ,Döğer, Arıköy, Tepe, Başköy, Değirmenli Köyü and Kelekçi villages and hamlets in Dicle district. (AS/DG)
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed presidents to three universities.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Erman Akbulut was appointed as University of Turkish Aeronautical Association President, Prof. Dr. Çavlan Çiftçi as İstanbul Cultural University President, Prof. Dr. Erhan Güzel as İstanbul Cultural University.
Two of the three presidents are men, the other one is woman.
The university presidential elections were abated through a statutory decree published on the Official Gazette on October 29, 2016.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has met with the head persons of villages in the 38th Village Head’s Meeting in the Presidential Palace yesterday (June 1).
Sharing some information and making remarks on the current issues on agenda, Erdoğan said that a wall was to be built on the entire Syrian border and after its completion the same would be done on the Iraqi border as well as on the proper spots of the Iranian border.
The Housing Development Administration (TOKİ) is completing the rest of the wall whose 200 km has already been completed. A wall will have been built on the 911-km Syrian border when it is completed.
Also a razor wire barrier will be placed above the wall along the border line consisting of 2 meters wide, 3 meters high blocks which weigh 7 tonnes.
Erdoğan stated that the wall would “avoid entrance and exits by terrorists and gun transfers”.
When the wall is completed, it will be the third longest wall after the Great Wall of China with the length of 3,460 km and Israeli-Palestinian wall of 1,120 km.
There is a 455-km wall on US-Mexican border. One of pledges of president candidate, Donald Trump is to close the whole border with a wall. (AS/DG)
