Turkic Council slams Israeli attacks on Palestinians

The Turkic Council on Wednesday slammed Israeli attacks on Palestinians.

“We express our concern over the events that have taken place and the violation of the inviolability of Al-Quds Al-Shareef during the holy month of Ramadan for all Muslims,” it said in a statement, referring to Jerusalem.

The Council condemned Israeli security forces’ use of weapons and unproportioned force against innocent Palestinian civilians worshiping at Al-Aqsa Mosque and demanded that Israel take necessary measures for a peaceful resolution to the situation and an immediate cessation of attacks on civilians and armed infiltration of Muslim holy sites.

It underscored that Israeli actions, which violate norms and principles of international law could undermine regional security and stability.

The council also extended condolences to the families of all victims and wished a speedy recovery to those wounded.

At least 53 Palestinians were killed and 320 injured in Israeli airstrikes, according to latest figures.

Five Israelis were killed and 45 injured by rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.

Tensions have been running high in the region after an Israeli court ordered last week the evictions of Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem and Israel’s raid at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
