İstanbul Chief Public Prosecution has issued detention warrant for 35 people including journalists as part of the investigation launched into the Gülen community following July 15 coup attempt, nine journalists have been detained.
State-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported the detention warrant with the heading “Operation into media structuring of the FETÖ”.
Operations have been carried out in İstanbul, Ankara and İzmit within the scope of the investigation carried out by İstanbul Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor İsmail Uçar and of the Anti-Terror and Organized Crime Bureau prosecutors Murat Çağlak.
Nine detentions
In the operation, former Yeni Şafak General Coordinator and Zaman columnist Nurullah Öztürk, Samanyoluhaber writer Rasih Yılmaz, former Yeni Şafak columnist Murat Aksoy, Abdullah Alparslan Akkuş, hurriyet.com.tr editor Dinçer Gökçe, former Bugün reporter İskender Yunus Tiryaki, Levent Atap, former Radikal reporter Ömer Şahin and Ayhan Şimşek have been detained. A search was carried out at the houses of detained journalists.
Ergun Babahan, Prof. Dr. Osman Özsoy and Şemsettin Efe for whom detention order has been issued are determined to be abroad, Hürriyet daily reported. (EA/TK)
